Quotation: Approximately 800 years ago (1215 A.D.) the
French and English devised the Magna Carta as the first
modern-day declaration of human rights on the planet. For more
than 800 years, they tried and variously embraced these
principles until, in a reaffirmation of these ideals,
individuals created what became the Constitution of the
United States.
As an interesting aside, the
United States of America is a
vast 225-year historical documentation of ideals and values,
as well as failings and shortcomings in its original charge
and intent. Best said, America, as well as the rest of the
world, individually and culturally, nationally and
collectively, are all works in progress. We have “watched”
America’s progression from
its infancy to its present state of evolvement as it migrates
toward becoming a better representation of its people and
their values and heads toward a more useful leadership role on
the planet.
